Experiment in Terror Series Read Over

November 6, 2014 By Kellie 1 Comment

Wow.  Okay, so it has been quite awhile since I have written anything here.  You might even be wondering if I’ve read anything worth writing about.  I’m here to say that I have definitely tackled some worthy reads during my time away.

I finished book #2 of the Divergent series but have yet to read the final book.  I am actually feeling kind of lukewarm about the series.  Anyone else?

I finished reading Elle Casey’s “Haven”, which is the final book in the  Apocalypsis series.  I also came across a new series called the “Chronos Files” by Rysa Walker.  The first book in the series “Time’s Edge” is wonderful!  I plan to review it in a few days.

Finally, I have been re-reading the Experiment in Terror Series.  I felt that the Experiment in Terror series deserved a read-over.  For one, Karina Halle released the final book for this series not too long ago.  So, I wanted to get re-acquainted with Perry, Dex and the gang.  Right now, I am reading Ashes to Ashes and in a few days, Dust to Dust.  The Experiment in Terror series is truly a series that you can read over and over again.  I’ve been really sad about the fact that Karina released her final book — the final chapters of Dex and Perry’s adventures.  So sad in fact, that i’ve been avoiding reading the final book until I had a chance to relish the entire series one more time.  Which is not to say that I can’t enjoy the entire series until the end of time, but the fact that there will be no new Dex and Perry adventures to laugh, ugly cry over or bask in the glow of their love for one another, is a little bit sad.  What can I say?  I’m a book nerd.

War of the Fae: Book 1 – The Changelings

The War of the Fae series — is a completely imaginative and unique series of books by one of my newly favorite authors — Elle Casey.

War of the Fae: Book 1 (The Changelings) — we are introduced to trucker-mouthed rebel, Jayne Sparks and her sweetly shy but incredibly intelligent  BFF Tony Green.

Jayne Sparks feels like a misfit and lives the ordinary life of a high school girl.  However, what starts out as ordinary soon turns into extraordinary as Jayne and Tony (by process of elimination) are taken on an incredible journey.  Jayne and Tony’s adventure proves to both of them that they are far more special than either would have ever dreamed.  A fantasy world is opened up to them and their dream of having a place where they truly belong is within arms reach.

There are a lot of moments in this book that made me laugh out loud.

I love the character Jayne.  She is by far one of my most favorite book characters ever.  Her potty-mouth and insecurities are endearing.  Her bad-assery knows no bounds.  She is a smart and strong female character who doesn’t even begin to recognize just how smart and strong she really is.

Each character that we come upon in the first book are part of the foundation for the other books in the series.  Trust me when I say that you will fall in love with these characters.

What I love about Elle Casey as an author — and in particular as the author of this series, is that she pulls up the right amount of build with the main plot and subplots.  She uses her wordsmith abilities to craft her fae world to perfection without dragging on and on about small details. (seriously, I read a book once where the author went into painstaking detail about the sound of a creaking bed spring)

I highly recommend this book and series to anyone who loves adventure and fantasy stories of YA proportions!  This particular book — The Changelings is FREE on Amazon.com!   🙂

My Rating for War of the Fae: Book 1 – The Changelings:

5 star rating for The Changelings

My Experience with Stephen King Books

I may have said this before, but I had never really been a Stephen King fan before now. My first experience with King’s work was back in the 90’s, when tv-movie adaptations of some of his books were released. I enjoyed the on-screen versions of “The Stand” and “Sometimes They Come Back”–  just to name a couple. I […]

Stephen King’s 11-22-63

I’m not a big Stephen King fan.  At least, I wasn’t — until I read Stephen King’s 11/22/63. What if John F. Kennedy had never been shot?  What if — YOU got the chance to go back in time and prevent the tragic event from happening?  In fact, what if you could go back in […]
